MN Permit to Carry Application Process
also known as Conceal and Carry License
You must apply in person at the Sheriff’s Office in the county of your residence.
You must present a current Minnesota driver’s license, state-issued ID, or a passport (or a legible photocopy).
You must be at least 18 years old, a US citizen, or a permanent resident.
A Minnesota permit to carry is valid for five years. The permit to carry also acts as a permit to purchase.
You must present a current certificate of completion of a Minnesota Permit to Carry Class taught by a BCA-certified instructor (certificates are valid for one year from the date it was issued). The course offered through Liberty Arms Training is an approved course.
Applications must be filled out completely; incomplete or inaccurate applications may be denied.
Application approval may take up to 30 days, depending on a detailed background check.
